Dr. Faruk Danis – Turkey ??
Like our colleagues from all over the world, COVID-19 has deeply affected us both in working life and emotionally. Things are very busy in our emergency room. Unlike before, we must protect ourselves from COVID-19 while treating our patients. Aside from our own health, we all have a responsibility to our families at home. We have to approach each patient carefully, there is a constant obsessivity. There are difficulties, especially around personal protective equipment. Our communities are in a panic – everyone wants to have a COVID-19 test.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought us closer together. We are supporting each other, keeping our motivation up and keeping morale high. We have settled into hotels during this time. We do activities with each other while maintaining social distance and wearing masks.
EM physicians, critical care physicians, anesthesiologists and all physicians are together in this COVID pandemic struggle!
The saddest situation is, of course, having to maintain social distance from our family. I have not seen my two-year-old daughter and my wife for 2 weeks. We are only able to video chat. Virtual communication is so important in this regard, and we can stay connected in this way.
Our community has been applauding healthcare workers every evening at 9:00pm. The health of our patients is beyond everything. The fact that they say “thank you” to us makes us the happiest people in the world.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought us closer together. We are supporting each other, keeping our motivation up and keeping morale high.
